Among other duties as owner of Cooley Design Lab, I was art director at Hard Case Crime, a publisher of hard-boiled detective novels, from 2006 to 2010. Charles Ardai and Max Phillips founded Hard Case Crime as a outlet to reprint the best of the pulp era, along with new titles by acclaimed, contemporary noir writers. During my tenure at Hard Case Crime, I was privileged to work with some of today's top artists, including the legendary Robert McGinnis, Glen Orbik, Chuck Pyle, Richard B. Farrell, Ken Laager, Gregory Manchess, and many others.
